September 6, 2004: Christian is doing well with solids: Bananas, carrots, sweet potatoes, peas, pears and green beans. We started apples today. On September 4, Christian laughed, for the first time! It was soooo funny to hear him laugh. He has a very cute laugh! I was patting his butt and he kept smiling and then, all of a sudden, he let out a laugh. A real, true laugh. Then he kept doing it over and over and over again. it was awesome! I also felt Christian's first tooth. It's almost broke the skin. He's barely crying about the pain! |

September 13, 2004: Well, Christian now has hearing aids. He got them today. Already the ear molds are too small. We made new ear molds and we should have them in by the beginning of next week. Before the hearing aids were put in, he had another hearing test. He failed again. This time the results showed that he is profoundly deaf. Meaning that he can't hear anything and most likely the hearing aids won't help him at all. We have to wait at least 6 months before they'll let him have a cochlear implant. It's a surgery where they put this wiring inside his cochlea and that will be similar to the hairs that are in there catching sound (in a hearing persons ear). We have to have the hearing aids for that long. They will tinker with them and try to make them work. We haven't seen any results yet. |

September 23, 2004: Christian and I left for Ohio today. Going for the weekend. My aunt is getting married and everyone wants to meet Christian. Christian did fabulous on the plane. No crying or anything. Several people commented on what a good baby he was! |

September 27, 2004: Came back from Ohio today. Christian did well. Everyone loved him. He was great. On the ride home, he was quiet. Again, no fussing. Again, many people commented on how quiet he was. Christian seems to have a cough, though. Has the sneezes too. We'll have it checked out soon. |

September 29, 2004: Took Christian to have the new ear molds for his hearing aids put in. Much better. No feedback. His audiologist says that he has fluid in his ears. I'll have his pediatrition take a look. I made an appointment for him to go see his pediatrition too. He's still coughing and sneezing. Edwin said that Christian has bronchitis. He does, in fact, have fluid in his ears. We have a prescription for the bronchitis and we have to massage the fluid out of his ears. Hoping it all goes away soon. I guess that's the price you pay to take a trip. |
