Christian went to school today and did really good. His teacher, Carla, said that he is really trying to mimick the sounds he hears. He is also understanding what several words mean (mom, dad, up, round and round, listen and lots more!). After school, we went for some "fine tuning" of his cochlear implant (AKA Mapping). They audiologist asked how he's doing (it's been just over 2 mos since his last mapping) and I told them that he seems to be hearing "normally" (if there is such a word). So, we went into the booth for a booth test (they do this before the mapping to see how he's doing. It's just a sound proof booth and they will say sounds and watch for him to respond to them.). After the test finished, they said that he is hearing "normally" which is around 20dB. It's fantastic! I'm so proud of him! He did so well, they they didn't want to change the setting on his implant! And we don't go back for 3 months (just after his second birthday). I'm sooooo excited and happy and proud of him! He's just my lil miracle!!!! |
